Location
Obertraun is situated in the Inner Salzkammergut, in a UNESCO World Cultural and Heritage Area within Upper Austria.
The village sits on the south shores of Lake Hallstatt at the foot of the Dachstein Mountain range. Haus Hepi sits in an elevated position only a 5 minute walk from the village centre and lake.

Getting to Haus Hepi.
Travelling by car from Salzburg airport follow blue motorway signs A1, direction Wien(Vienna). Take Thalgau exit and follow road through Hof, Fushlsee, St Gilgen, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern. Take the right exit after Bad Goisern signposted Golling, Gosau, Hallstatt, Obertraun. Follow the road along Lake Hallstatt, turn left at signs for Hallstatt, Obertraun. Follow the road past Hallstatt and into Obertraun. Drive over the railway crossing and turn left at the junction, take the next road on the right (approx 200m) called Stiegergasse. Follow the green signs “Haus Hepi”, the house is on the right, set back from the road.

Travelling by Air
The closest airport to Haus Hepi is Salzburg, approx 1 hour 15 mins by road. The airport attracts many budget airlines and with a flight time of approx 1 hour 30 mins hours from London Stansted it is by far the most economical means of travel. From Linz airport to Haus Hepi is approx 1 hour 45 mins.

Car hire should always be booked at least 3 days in advance. The best deals are obtained by using online car hire bookers. Hiring a car provides freedom to explore remote locations at your leisure. The car hire offices are immediately opposite the arrivals area at Salzburg airport (a two minute walk) so pick ups and drop offs are fast and efficient.
Public Transport
It is possible to arrive in Obertraun by either bus or train. From Salzburg airport trolley buses run every 10 mins to the train station. Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen train station is only a few minutes walk from Haus Hepi, we offer a free pick up service by prior arrangement.
